News from the Field

This week we harvested the last of the carrots. Everyone who filled out our survey loves them. We heard over and over how sweet they taste. We store the carrots in plastic to keep them crisp. You should too. We store them at 35 degrees in the cooler until spring -- or we sell them all first (always the goal).

When you drive by the farm, you'll see us tilling the fields. This is to return the dead plant material back into the soil. You should do this in your own garden to avoid giving pests a place to overwinter. Turning the dead plants and leaves back into the soil allows composting and feeds the micro-biotic life that keeps our soils healthy. DO NOT leave vegetables in the ground! Potatoe tubers especially can harbor the dreaded blight if they don't freeze solid on the surface. They could carry this year's diseases into next year.

Please enjoy our fresh organic vegetables!
