News from the Field

The vegetables are really starting to produce and we see your bags are more full by the week. We have a new lettuce this week called deer tongue it is a baby Boston lettuce.

I wanted to let you know about bringing wilted veggies back, and how to store them so they are stored in the best condition. Lettuce will revive, just re-cut the bottoms and submerge in a sink filled with cold water for 15 minutes, shake off excess water and place in a plastic bag before putting in the veggie drawer. Give it a few hours. The root crops like the moisture too. Soak, shake off excess and store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.

Tomatoes belong on the counter or window sill for the best flavor, never in the fridge it makes them mealy.

Potatoes stay best in a cool dark place (which may be the fridge during the summer).

Kale and Broccoli love the cold, 32 degrees, we pack them in bags (with ice too) in the coldest part of your frig. Please enjoy our fresh organic produce!
